Sunday 13th April – Windsurf ** River Orwell at Levington – sunny periods.

Foil – 19.21 knot max, 16.05 knot ave., 3.10 knot hour, 7.53 knot mile, 17.22 km., 8.42 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

I was keen to get out on the water today as we are away for the best part of a week visiting family in Devon but the forecast was all over the place, starting west then turning swwith high tide at 1.12. The wind started wnw and dropped down to 5 knots around nine which did not look very promising but fellow foiler Robert said he was heading down to Levington at 10.30 to check it out, the wind started to build turning wsw so I had a quick breakfast and headed over. I arrived at the marina at 10.30 and the highlight of the session was watching the racing yachts sail past! The sun was disappearing behind clouds and it was not very warm, I had forgotten my fleece to:( Robert arrived and there was enough breeze to tempt us out with 6.5 with Ian the the winger arriving and set-up his 5m. I had a few flying runs but the wind was all over the place and up and down, whatever sail I rigged today would not have been right. There looked more wind up towards Pin Mill but when I got there it was very patchy. The sun had returned and I was actually too warm in my wetsuit as I floundered up river to Nacton Shores before wobbling back as the wind went light! I had some fun sailing in and out of the mooring bouys before calling it a day, pretty poor to be honest and was pleased when it was over, pack-up, shower and head for home!
