Saturday 4th October - walks **** – The Dip to Felixstowe Ferry – sunny morning before clouding over with some light rain and very windy.

With Storm Amy passing through with winds gusting over 40 knots I thought it wise to give windsurfing a miss today, perhaps I can get out tomorrow? We had no plans for today but I checked the high tide which was just after ten and with the strong winds I thought there might be some good waves breaking up the prom so Mag and I parked up at The Dip at 9.45 in pretty much wall to wall sunshine, sadly the wind was W to WSW which is offshore which means the sea was pretty flat! Still with the wind on our backs it was a lovely walk up to Felixstowe Ferry with the wind blowing the tops off the waves in the mouth of the River Deben and some big splashes as the sea hit the metal wall over near Bawdsey Manor! There were a few dog walkers and the odd golfer out enjoying the morning as we approached the Ferry, a wooden bench was blown over as we passed but it was not silly windy, it increased in the afternoon as it clouded over with some light rain! The ferry was running at this point but they were not exactly queing up to cross, we had a quick walk round the boatyard including a breezy selfie before returning, a little harder on the way back with the wind in our faces but it certainly made you feel good to be alive! We certainly had the best of the day but Mag still managed to spend a couple of hours in her little garden while I sorted out my photos.
