Monday 20th October - walk *** – Around Felixstowe – cloudy with showers.

Another fresh breeze forecast from the south today with with lots of showers, I hate sailing in the rain but still arranged with Ian to meet up with Ian at Levington Marina at 9.15. A couple of lorries were unloading stuff near our launch area so after taking a few weather pics I sat in Ian’s van for a catch up chat as the showers rolled over! With the lorries gone we walked over to the launch spot and it was foul, maybe 15 knots but it was gloomy, you could hardly see Felixstowe docks and the light rain was blowing straight into our faces, not inspiring so we decided to give it a miss and head for home! We might have parking issues this winter with lots of work going on at our end of the marina changing all the jetty support post meaning the the sections of jetty walkways with be placed along our parking area, so we will probably have to continue to walk our gear to sail!
Back home I sorted out my pics as the showers continued, in the end I passed on my exercises and during a bight spell Mag and I decided to have our daily walk heading down to the seafront and the clouds were impressive as a large bank of dark clouds moved over, around the pier where we had to shelter as the rain arrived. Luckily it was short lived so we carried on towards the Fludyers and we got a glimpse of sun! Back to the town past Harvest House, a quick trip around Tesco, home for a cuppa and cake. More wind tomorrow but our van is in for a service and MOT but there is loads of wind coming from Thursday but getting colder and with the clocks going back this weekend that’s another step closer to winter!
