Windsurfing: Vetch's Beach, Durban
Wind Direction: NE
Wind Stength: 24 knots
Surf / Sea State: Neap tides
Air Temperature: 26
Sea Temperature: 23
Weather: Partly cloudy
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Excellent.

Fast, furious, power to burn. Bit of a shorebreak, otherwise nothing too hectic although the sea was a bit blown out.

Gybes about 50%, planing gybes about 20% of that. A little bit of onshore swell surfing and some nice gybes down the face of the swell near the pier.

Jumps pretty good. Not huge height (ramps not steep) but quite good distance and glide. Spin-out rather common.

Sea temperature very pleasant. Comfortable taking a breather in between runs. Only 1 other sailor ! Possibly due to erroneous weather report from South African Weather Bureau (predicted light to moderate winds).

General comment. Excellent sailing. Would have been nice to have a few more sailors out and was a bit concerned about catching the reef so I generally stayed within it. This was like a typical summer's day sailing. There may be a low season in Durban but I wouldn't call it an off season !
