While waiting for windsurfing Hal and I went out for a surf (he was on paddle-ski) at 101. Had a look at Battery Beach but was a little big for my limited skills and quite messy so we though we'd head back to 101 and take it easy. Also within reach of Vetch's if the wind should pick up.

Launched in very small surf and wondered if we'd get any rides at all. If the wind had got up there we'd have been happy to launch the windsurfers there it was so flat.

Swell built slowly the whole time (perhaps to do with the receding tide) and had some nice rides and plenty of tumbles. Still battling to get my front foot placed right. Seem to be dragging the side of the foot as I try to get on. Very pleasant and relaxed, though. I know I should get a big board to learn on but after all I'm a windsurfer and this is just a fun in-between activity at present.

Hal had some good rides on the paddle-ski but had his pipes cleaned by a few nasties. There's no ducking under with that thing. It's either blast through or ride it when you're trying to get out.

Still, a very pleasant morning. Sea was beautiful and the conditions suited my very limited skill level.
