Was looking at the forecast at lunchtime and the trees getting battered outside my window at work and decided to take the afternoon off and get in a cheeky session at Newburgh. Heard on the grapevine that a couple of people were already out so dashed off to get my kit, and the wind was around 18-22 mph, so rigged 6.3m and big board. As soon as I was on the water, the wind started to drop, and the session turned out to be crap, particularly as the tide was now starting to go out quickly. Was de-rigging after about 1/2 an hour and my wife appeared with my 4 year old daughter to see me turning the air blue with profanities as what had promised to be a great session had turned into a shit one - hardly worth getting into my wetsuit. As I was packing up, I got a text message from Dan telling me that the Broch at Fraserburgh was going off and to get up there if possible. My wife told me to go, otherwise I would only be a miserable git during the evening, so didn't need a second invitation. My daughter still thinks I had to get back to work and wasn't it nice of me to pop back and see her as I would miss her bedtime! Feel a bit bad about that.
