Windsurfing: Shoreham Wind Direction: S Wind Stength: F6 Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Still warm Weather: Hot & Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered:
After yesterday's disappointing session I headed down to Shoreham again
without checking the forcast, not expecting that much difference... Well,
apart from the wind direction (still onshore) it couldn't have been more
different!
Really decent waves/swell made for some serious fun, and some pretty
challenging sailing. Half the time was spent dodging the big b*stards, and
the other half riding or jumping them.
These must have been the biggest and best "proper" waves I've ever sailed
at Shoreham, and it was really really fun, but very tiring as there was not
a lot of time spent in the harness. Waves were easily head high, and with
added bullsh*t factor reached 1/2mast on occasions. Unusually for Shoreham
(especially in onshore winds) the waves were nicely spaced out.
Glad I wasn't wearing a helmet for a change, as you could really hear some
of the waves roaring right behind your head as you tore down them -
cool!
For better sailors today would probably score 3 stars, but it was so much
fun that it gets 4 from me. I just wish I was fitter at the moment as I
didn't last very long, but it was fun sitting in the sun watching everyone
else for an hour of so afterwards anyway.
Up there for best sail of the year for me.
(Oh, and I wish I'd had my Acid with me - it was the first time the Evo's
felt too big and bouncy for me).
