Whoa! Just had the best session EVER! Matt at Airjam said he envied the
position I was in (i.e. being crap) because when you get it licked, it's
the best feeling ever. And it is!
Started off the day with serious motivation issues as it was rainy and
windless at home, but had agreed to meet my buddy Paul at Camber. And he
was driving from Brighton.
Got there 12 ish to find grotty drizzly rain and a VERY smooth 18-20kt
wind. Rigged up the 11m but almost got blown away when doing the lines
(wind picked up to about 25kts) so deflated that and got the 8m instead.
Good call! For the first hour or so it was in danger of being 'only' 4
stars as I couldn't get going coz of the waves. But then the lagoon-type
thing filled in and we were treated to almost an hour of flat water for
about 10-20m before hitting waves. Woo-hoo! Both Paul and me did some
really long runs, really getting the hang of this! I got to the stage where
I hardly looked at the kite, just looked at where I was going. That made
such a HUGE difference to everything!
At one point I went out as far as the waves, turned around, came back, and
ended up exactly where I started! Woo-hoo!
And the wind was so smooth, a little up and down but no gusts at all, just
smoooooooooooth!!!
By the end of it Paul & I were just totally and utterly buzzing, and both
agreed over a post-sail pint that it was our best session EVER!
