Kite buggying - boarding: Camber Sands Wind Direction: SSW to SW Wind Stength: 15-20mph Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 6 Sea Temperature: Weather: Sunny Max Speed: 37.4 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 41.5 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Went with Beefy, we had planned to do a day trip to Les Hemmes in France
but buggying is temporarily banned while they sort out beach access, so we
decided to hit Camber instead. We had a good 4.5 hours of buggying until it
got dark.
We got there 3.5 hours before high water and there was just a thin strip of
sand so went with the 2.2m as there wasnt much margin for error. As the
tide went out the outer sand bank was uncovered so went out there, changed
up to the 2.8m and got some good speeds on the perfect hard flat dry sand
strip. Wind wasnt quite bang onshore so going one way was broader and hence
faster for speed runs. The 2.8m was a perfect kite in those steady winds,
just lock it in and it just accelerates, could probably have tried a bigger
kite but the bigger kites were in the car.
Got a new high speed for me in the UK (37.4mph).
GPS batteries were flat for the first half hour so I probably did nearer 50
miles.
Sun shone all day, only us, a couple of boarders and a few kitesurfers.
Broke 2 strops, must get a roller spreader bar.
Top day out, nice weather, good speeds, I found it hard to stop but had to
call it a day as it was getting dark.
