Wednesday 8th September – bike ***** – Two Rivers Orwell to the Deben including breakfast at Landguard – sunny and hot.

The mini heatwave continues for another day so we were keen to get out on the bikes again to make the most of the warm sunshine:) I packed breakfast and we headed down to the old pier at Landguard via Langer Park to enjoy the peace and quiet as the large ferry left Harwich. After a very pleasant time by the Orwell, we headed back through Landguard reserve to the prom where there were pensioners everywhere having fun in the sun now all the kids are back to school! Mag then turned off to Lidl while I carried onto Felixstowe Ferry. It was a hive of activity on the Deben with the Bawdsey Ferry transporting cyclists, yachts making slowly against the fast flowing tide and I found where the water ski jetty had disappeared too, it is moored up to the three posts in front of the harbour masters shed with someone working on it, so not sure if it will be replaced up river? Out onto the Deben path to Kings Fleet, along Marsh Lane, through the woods at The Grove and home. Dinner with Mag before starting my exercises in the sunny, hot back garden and being honest I did doze off! I had one eye on the weather hoping that the breeze would fill in but to be honest it did not look very promising!
