Thursday 1st May - walk **** – Landguard circuit including a picnic – sunny, hot with light winds, hazy on the coast!

The hottest 1st of May on record apparently as temperatures nearing 30 degrees, as we have a big shop at Lidl later we have a morning at home before driving down to The Manor end for a walk at Landguard Nature Reserve and were lucky to park in Manor Terrace with the large paying car park at the end almost empty! It was really sunny in our back garden but it was hazy down on the seafront! The daises are in full bloom by the caravans but the rest of the reserve looks a little sad after last years mass of blooms, even the blackberry bushes look dead :( We amble along coming out by the small wooden jetty before walking along the River Orwell to one of our favourite picnic spot where we enjoy yummy tuna pasta for the second day running, with light winds the sea and river are very flat and still at what is high water! We then walk back for the most part on the grass before doing the last bit on the beach where there are a few people enjoying the good weather, it is much busier back towards the pier. I got some nice pics to send to the TV weather but sadly both presenters were doing the forecast from the outside so very few pics were used:( Then after after a big shop at Lidl, a record spent but we got 10% off and home for a cuppa and cake!
Tomorrow we have a family get together at my Dads bungalow including the lovely Maeva, there might even be enough wind for a foil on the Stour on Sunday, fingers crossed!
