flying up wind in 10-12 knots!
shem - 2-10-2007 at 18:06

Had a wicked session in the estuary today, 10-12 knots, occasional 14 knot gust. 11 meter Sonic and my new Crazy fly 145x48!!!!! It huge, massive square tips, flat as a pancake, and gets going earlier than anything Ive ever tried, including a skim, surf board or even hydrofoil. Amazingly it still turns as well. Even managing 6 foot jumps. Ive never ridden so powered in such light wind, at times I was amazed my kite was staying in the sky. It also still turns, which was a shock.

So if you want a guaranteed light wind option Id seriously think about going big.

P.S. Had the whole estuary to myself, flying back and for to Aberdyfi, and it was sunny, stoked.

Jeez Shem..looks like a barn door with footstraps..How much?

shem - 2-10-2007 at 20:36

Theyre ment to be 400, but theres 20% off at the mo cos the 08 models are about to bless our sunny shores, so £320 ish.

I waspersonally scared of buying such a big board, puerly because I thought itd be awful to ride. I had the 137 x 44, and thought that would be as big as Id ever go, but this thing flys. Youll never boost the biggest air with it, and itd bea swine to try a board of with, but to get you sailing and having fun, its the dogs dangley bits. Obviously itll be with me on the beach so take it for a spin and see for ya self.

I wont be getting rid of my 07 crazy fly just yet, but I am very interested to see what 08 brings - curious to see what differences come out.

Dont worry Col I know that your part of the infamous "PKS", please dont pick on me Im only a little kite school in deepest west Wales. Besides your twice my size at least!

Dandine - 3-10-2007 at 18:14

You two would be lost without each other. It's always nice to see such good humoured banter. Keep it up. By the way col I will be buying some new kites soon. Would love to try the 13 instinct edge, i think it's going to be a toss up between that and the new royal. I'll be looking at buying a complete quiver so get ready to barter.

col123 - 3-10-2007 at 19:27

you wouldn't need a full qiver, probably the same with the royals two kites will probably do ya..
