Who's up this weekend?
leonardo - 22-2-2005 at 12:11

Where's everybody heading this weekend? I was thinking the estaury, but perhaps there will be better conditions over at Brancaster on da east coast..

Al what are you forecasting for this weekend - cold NE?

Whatever happens i'll be down with loads of BEER and my new Storm3's!

mNeil - 22-2-2005 at 12:43

its going to be freezing dude, and dont think you can persuade me with copious amounts of beer!
more likely to be out snow kiting maybe!
going to try and sort out a snow hols this week.

justal - 22-2-2005 at 16:07

Looks like decent NE (Force 5, maybe more) at the mo and not too cold (5¬?C) on Sat, and a bit colder but still above freezing on Sunday. But with quite large tides and high tides around 9.30am it'll have to be a nice 7.30am start to get a decent session in!

leonardo - 22-2-2005 at 19:08

snowkiting???

Where ya goin to do that? in France/Austria? Where MAhN>?

mNeil - 22-2-2005 at 19:40

thought there might be some snow around here by then or maybe on the top of the long mynd at the gliding club.

rob - 22-2-2005 at 21:08

the mynd was white over on sunday neil.

corndon may be another good bet too, just NW of the mynd.

rob

bucski - 22-2-2005 at 21:31

long mynd sounds good oh wise one, well up for that, will have to remember how to do my snow dance!

shem - 23-2-2005 at 10:52

Looks like tommorow could be the day for snow. Snow board and Phantom in the van, and ready to go!!!!

mNeil - 23-2-2005 at 12:10

the Colonels' mum and dad live in site of long mynd so should be able to find out if the club is shut due to the snow. if there is no glidiing going on we should be able to use the runway. we will have to drive around to the front of the hill and park up and walk up as there is no way you can drive up there without a half track!!!!!!
fingers crossed.

bucski - 23-2-2005 at 23:54

sounds good to me, can't wait to try out this snow kiting lark, will dig my snowboard and boots out the loft ready to go. Sunday is good for me - I've got a mate with a landrover in Church Stretton who may be able to help out if need be.

col123 - 24-2-2005 at 09:27

just spoke to the parents and theres only about an inch of snow at the moment , but the sign at the bottom of the mynd road says that if theres snow they'll close the road..

.dont forget the gliding club rents the land of the national trust..

.it might be worth searching for the long mynd gliding club on t'internet and if it's shut go for it i say...

leonardo - 24-2-2005 at 13:12

wind is looking very light dudes

mNeil - 24-2-2005 at 15:37

latest showing snow gone by the weekend; nearly gone here already , raining now!
dont think i fancy borth Leo but might be on for a brancaster trip .where does one park up for the night?

leonardo - 24-2-2005 at 18:51

DONE I'm There MAHN!!!! i'll be riding my new storm3's!!

Yeehhhaaaaa

mNeil - 24-2-2005 at 19:13

anyone else up for brancaster; dunster? steveo?
STILL NOT ANSWERED THE QUESTION WHERE WE PARK UP FOR THE NIGHT! bearing in mind will have to have somewhere to park my wheel chair!:

bucski - 24-2-2005 at 20:32

what's up with borth oh wise one? NE are usually cleanish, wind forecast looks sound and high tide should be around midday ( me thinks unless mistaken)

Me is up for an estuary bash on Sun.

Is there anywhere round llandudno way or East coast of Anglesey that is good in a noreaster?

[Edited on 24-2-2005 by bucski]

mNeil - 24-2-2005 at 23:11

tim llygwy ; past benllech about 4 miles small beach ,great tide goes out for ages.
i thought the tides are about early morning in the estuary, not much time to sail; what say ye justal?

leonardo - 25-2-2005 at 07:46

Hey Master Bluebeard, just had a look at Da Guru and Borth looks more appealing than brancaster..shorter journey, less pigs on the road, warmer weather..

The other option that looks like it will have the best NE wind and a warm 7 Celsius, is Newborough north Anglesey..What say yee

bucski - 25-2-2005 at 08:45

Cheers Neil will check out where llgygywygysy(???) is!

Leo - does Newborough work in a NE? I always thought you needed a SW there - top spot tho

mNeil - 25-2-2005 at 10:56

newborough only south type winds.
you maybe correct about borth though,so may change mind and go there! east is where the snow may be lying on the roads.
hows the snow around borth justal?

shem - 25-2-2005 at 11:21

No snow up here. Didnt really get any, boo hoo!!

shem - 25-2-2005 at 11:35

Incidently, if the weekend wind is any thing like this weeks been,I'd stay at home. They've forcasted decent NE'ers most days, and its been the shitiest, gusty wind Ive ever encounted. Varying from 0-16 knots on a half hourly basis.

leonardo - 25-2-2005 at 12:29

I thought that NE'erlies were quite clean in the estaury...

Has it really been that bad? Perhaps the north coast of anglesey will be the place to go to...

bucski - 25-2-2005 at 13:06

It's a tough call for sure, wonder where everyone will end up!

mNeil - 25-2-2005 at 13:09

hows about ending up in the pub!

shem - 25-2-2005 at 15:16

It really has been that bad, Ive looked every where for clean wind, but ended up having a week of buggying.

bucski - 25-2-2005 at 15:37

ah, the pub, now why didn't I think about that? Too busy speeding about obviously - got nicked yesterday for not wearing a seat belt! Only fine though, no points thankgod. My own fault really, he's probably done me a favour if it makes me wear it.

col123 - 25-2-2005 at 16:21

DIDN'T THINK YOU NEEDED A SEAT BELT ON A TRI-CYCLE

steveo - 25-2-2005 at 16:40

Sunday looking good for brancaster. But very cold. Might give it a miss, My knee's a shot from a 6 days of snowboard in the french alps what a cool sport!!!. Will be up for it next w/end if good forecast!

mNeil - 25-2-2005 at 19:00

cant beleive this threads got 2 pages of dithering!
well tooo cold for me this weekkend so going to the motorhome show at the nec with nick; him getting a van maybe!
fingers crossed for the next weekend!

rob - 25-2-2005 at 20:04

there was snow on the mynd again about 2 hours ago, and it was still snowing - just in case anybody is still considering a spot of snow kiting!

rob

Pluto - 25-2-2005 at 21:02

Pub gets my vote!

bucski - 26-2-2005 at 07:34

come on someone must be going - i'm gonna give the estuary a bash on sunday - pluto you wanna lift up?

justal - 26-2-2005 at 07:41

I'll be there if I get the chance....All being well with the new arrival etc.

Al.

dunk - 26-2-2005 at 09:54

Neil,

At Brancaster you just park at the beach carpark, but the road floods at high tide ,so you won't get in or out.

Working till Monday, then off for a week, so maybe up for next weekend.

Dunkster

col123 - 26-2-2005 at 10:36

i'm brancaster bound but working at a trade event on sunday, still no flying for me at the moment though but fingers crossed i'll be out next weekend ..

with some new toys of course, it'd be rude not to

mNeil - 26-2-2005 at 16:07

well the bok ,nick and myself will be toasty in the pub for the evening in about one hours time!
nec tomorrow, have fun tim and dont forget ,put the visor down in the car!!!

bucski - 26-2-2005 at 17:21

cheers neil, will make sure I am visor enabled.
Enjoy your beers.

shem - 26-2-2005 at 19:44

You chose well crew, todays wind was a pile of poo. Just about o.k. for land kiting, but a big steaming pile of poo for da water.

Dunk if your off next week, get in touch, wind looks o.k. for a few days, and Im always keen to play!!

bucski - 26-2-2005 at 20:56

yeah, it's looking really pants now, oh well, and there's no snow anywhere, double bummer.
Tamworth snowdome is about the only exciting thing I can think of!!

Pluto - 26-2-2005 at 22:50

Not the Grapes Tim?

Now it gets really exciting in there!!

leonardo - 27-2-2005 at 15:37

Hey Shemdude..yup glad we didn't make the trip, would have been a waste of time..instead Master Bluebeard, Nick and I hit the Ale in a Brummie pub...ended up a little schmangled i must say..

Let's all pray for some warmer & better conditions for next weekend..the forecast is showing some NW'erlies mmmm might be good!
