Ye wind looking reasonable at the mo. I've got Friday off to do some gardening, but if it stays the way it is I might just sneak a crafty day on the beach instead

I'm around from Tomorrow, the winds looking solid for the next few days. It'd be good to hook up Shem, where you riding?

Hey Neil, remember what Axle said about his homemade board?

Its cheap to make.

It goes up wind very well.

If you loose it you make another.

And if you get cold, you can burn it!!!!!!!!

It still makes me laugh, I wonder where he is now.

dunk, i met axle in tarifa a couple of years ago living in the back of an estate car! he had contructed a water heater by coiling copper pipes around the exhaust pipe. wearing jeans with zips in them to shorten them. he had wood and power tools in the car to make more boards.

a one of and a generaly nice guy.

i hope he has saved up enough to buy his boat and is sailing and kiting his homemade board on some tropical island. although im sure with a neoprene head band and wetsuit boots over his wetsuit.

see you on friday.

I'm gonna work this morning and then sail later today, it looks as though the wind will hold, or maybe even build.

took this pic of it last weekend before its first outing.
results;
board a bit too wide as it was difficult to get the heal edge in, once flat it sailed well.
i have since rectified the situation by taking about 30mm off all four side so reducing the length to about 155 and the width to about 53cm, it now fits in the garage) i have also moved the foor plates about 5mm towards the heal edge.
experiment experiment.
i made the board with very little in the way of rocker on the base ( hot water and a coupole of house bricks) as anticipated the pressure of the sea flexed to board just enough to go straight up wind with ease, so no change on that front.
the fins from my nobile 129 are maybe a tad on the small size for the size of board but i prefer to use the edge of the board rather than rely on fins to overcome lack of board skills.
all in all i am well pleased with the results on its trial sail and think it should be well up to the job this time.
looking forward to breaking the sub 6 knt sail!

good effort, but it will never work in six knots with a kite.....maybe if you attached a mast and a sail......

dunk - 25-6-2008 at 17:10

Looks good Neil, butI tend to agree with Nick,
I think you'd have more fun in a sailing boat in 6knts.

Fully lit today on a 126x38 board with a 6m kite. Big waves and Sunshine too!

I managed to hang onto my 9 over here dunk, just!! Glad you had a good one, you sailing that side all week?? There was quite a few out here today, should be a few tommorow as well

justal - 26-6-2008 at 05:29

What a day... Loads of wind here and loads of waves and the sun was shining.

I tried to make it across to Aberdovey Shem to see if it was you out as there was one kite up but each time I got half way across the mouth of the estuary the wind dropped and there wasn't enough to get me going. I had a bit of a swim on my third attempt after running out of wind in front of a big set so stayed over this side in the end.

As good as it gets though.
