uploading avatar?

How does one upload and avatar gif. In the edit profile section there is a box for avatar url, so how exactly do I get a gif on my pc up? Do I first have to find some other place to upload it to?

You have to have it publicly available on a web server.

It can't be just on a PC. Do you have any web space?

Otherwise you can use on from the gallery that Al provided.

If you ask Al nicely (I suppose you can be rude if you like!) he will probably put it on his webspace for you.
