Boardwise Demo Aberdovey
justal - 16-10-2009 at 04:49

24th & 25th October 2009

Aberdovey.

Format...
First things first, all our demo's are FREE.!
As with all our demo's you'll be treated to kit heaven, with all the latest 2010 toyz available for you to pour over and have a play with. We see our demo weekend as a time to see old customers and new with the main focus being to enjoy and have fun.

What you need...
All you need is your wetsuit and some beer money for the Saturday night..! Well if your drinking with Whitey you better make that alot of beer money...LOL! That said we always recommend that you bring your own kit, so you can compare your existing equipment with the new stuff and if all the demo kit is out you can use your own equipment.

What time does it all kick off...
The demo boyz usually get to Aberdovey around 9am and WILL need an hour or so to rig up and get ready, so if you can be patient and give them till 10ish before you dive in to try the latest toyz - it would be really helpful. Sailing stops gererally when it starts to get dark, once all the kit has been packed away it's off to the Dovey Yacht Club for the Infamous BBQ and entertainment (see below ) Bring your own meat to chuck on the barbie's provided buy the club and for £3.50 you will get all extras - Salad / fries etc . On the Sunday depending on the wind conditions we usually pack up a bit earlier at 4pm ish , so you can all make it home before falling asleep at the wheel !!

Saturday night premier of Four Dimensions DVD and Live Band..
Boardwise are proud to be able to offer our customers a free premier of the new windsurfing DVD Four Dimensions at the Aberdovey yacht club. PWA Legend and actor Nik Baker will be there to introduce the DVD and answer any questions after the DVD showing. As a special offer on the night we will be selling / taking orders for the DVD at a special price of £20 - normal price £24.99. Following the film a local band will be playing at the club, a real hit at the June demo sure to impress again !!!

Who is going...
As you would expect all our suppliers will be present at the demo, so you will be able to try equipment from:
North & Fanatic
Tushingham & Starboard
Simmer & Mistral (all new slalom boards to try out...)
Severne
RRD & Ezzy
JP & Neilpryde
Angulo
Exocet
Naish

Lets hope theres some wind!!

Are you going to be there Al. I'm thinking of coming along for the day on Saturday, the forecast looks quite promising for both Sat & Sun.

If the forecast stays as it is at the mo (30 knots Westerly for the Sunday) then I'm sure I'll be there... Although with that sort of forecast I'd rather be out on the seafront in the waves than in the estuary at Aberdovey.

If there isn't any wind then i won't bother as I'll go mountain biking at Llandegla instead.

Forecast is looking pretty epic now.... Currently 20-25 knots SW Saturday afternoon swinging W on Sunday but still around 25 knots.

Who's gonna be there?

Will be in Aber celebrating the wedding aniversary with the wife. What a coincidence that this is on the same weekend.!(she booked the location and date by the way). Ive managed to come to an agreement of a couple of hours on the water so can't wait to try the new kit. Question is which will be the best day And time and does wind direction matter? I only have a couple of hours so wish to make the best of it!
Gonna try to get her to stay for the BBQ and movie too, lets see how I get on.

Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning look best at the mo. SW-W all the time so wind direction should be OK, especially out towards Graveyards.

AndyW - 23-10-2009 at 13:15

Should be down Sunday morning all being well. Sounds like it could be a good one.

Andy

Jonny - 23-10-2009 at 18:21

Yep. I'll be heading down on Sunday now. See you all there.

Steve is coming down for Sunday too. Although, at the moment the windiest part of the weekend looks like later this afternoon... I might just sail from here (in the waves) today though rather than head to flat waters of Aberdovey.

What a perfect weekend for the demo!

30-35 knots on Saurday and lots of people on the water. I didn't actually go to the demo myself but sailed from the seafront in some pretty meaty waves instead.

Sunday was a little lighter windwise but still solid 4.5m-5m weather all day and a little sunnier. I did sail from Aberdovey on Sunday and it was good to see a lot of familiar faces, Steve, AndyW, Simon, Impi, Stevebus, Jonny etc etc. and all of the usual dmo-day crew... Why don't any of you sail here during the rest of the year? It looked good to see so many people on the water, allthough it is a little odd sailing with so many people around.

Is there a demo happening this October again?

There's no mention of one on Boardwise's website

Jonny - 21-9-2010 at 07:17

Haha

There is one planned for the 30th & 31st October when the clocks go back so early start required.

Jonny

justal - 21-9-2010 at 07:48

Yep, 30th & 32st as mentioned here.

And in the Events Calendar.

Are you going to be the Jonny? I guess it's almost time to start praying for wind!

Al.
