I was qoing to ask this as we're coming over to Dovey for the weekend and I thought the setup looked promising. But will the E'ly flow kill any chance of afternoon wind ?

It will certainly be better first thing. Depending on how windy it is it may last longer, but its also perfect early tides and therell be no water after about 10.30 am till the evening anyway. So Id say, in for 6am and out for 9am to enjoy a sunny day on the beach.

Aberdyfi will be gusty, but if your lucky you might just make it over to Ynys las then do a up stream tack before trying to make it back to Aberdyfi when youve had enough

Is Ifor likely to still be blowing in the evening? I can't see getting there for 6am as all my kit is buried in the garage after moving here.

Nope, he's best in the mornings.

Did you get out this morning as well Shem - Ivor was blowing his socks off today!

30-40 knots whilst I was out at about 6am.

No I didnt, got Saturday 20-25 kots then Sunday 25-30 knots, (at a guess), maxing on the 11 basically, should have been on the 9. Epic conditions, blue skys and loads of estuary to play in. Shame I missed Monday, but work called!

Amazing weekend indeed ! Couldn't believe Sunday went off too after Saturday. We've been visiting Aberdovey for more than 20 years and that was one of the best weekend visits ever...just a shame the tide wasn't at best times but that didn't stop us (maybe we should have layed off the vino and got up earlier :-) )

shem - 24-7-2013 at 09:11

Deffo Paul, I was on the water at Ynys las by 7am both days to maximise tide times.

Even Sunday evening was good on my 12m kite. Only me, a Topper Dinghy, learner windsurfer on the water and lots of sunshine...
