Over 300 members
justal - 12-8-2003 at 16:38

Just a quick thanks to all the members here for making this site the success that it is. We've just exceeded the 300 member mark. This is only a very tiny percentage of the total number of windsurfers, surfers, kiters and other Forces-of-Nature sports participants in the UK, but its a start... Where are all the others??.

This site wouldn't be what it is without the contributions of YOU, its members. So, you know who you are, thanks for contributing and keeping the site interesting, keep it up and spread the word.

Only about 50% of the members have ever posted, and theres always quite a few 'guests' who visit the site, so there must be quite a few regular lurkers out there too.... Come on, don't be shy, join in, add your point of view and help keep Forces-of-Nature.co.uk lively and entertaining.

The site is getting more and more popular and is receiving on average over the past few months about 15,000 hits per day from about 500 unique visitors. Many more than in the sites early days when it was just about a few locals here in Borth. I want to encourage people to post from all over the UK (and beyond), so if you have something to add or want to use the site to keep in touch with the local sailors, surfers etc in your area then feel free to do so...The site is here for you.

I have a few little improvements up my sleeve for the coming months, so there should be some new things on the site at some point.

Hope you're still all enjoying the site, and heres to the next 300 members.

Al.

Well done Al

You deserve a lot of credit for an excellent site.

SeanBo - 12-8-2003 at 19:14

It must be nice to see such a justified response to all your hard work....heres to the improvements you have up your sleev and the next 300!

PS - I know Al has more than one sign in....I wonder if the 300 count takes this in to consideration

LOL.... OK SeanBo, You got me on that one... there are 301 members at the mo though!

jase - 13-8-2003 at 11:16

I have only just joined - does that make me member 300? Or am i 301? Surely i should get a prize

Anyway - from what i have read so far this seems like a great forum and a good way to build a community. It is pretty hard to make contact with windsurfers apart from the odd greeting at the beach/lake. And it is great to get advice from others who are not necessarily trying to sell you something...

Keep up the good work!!

justal - 13-8-2003 at 16:20

Cheers Jase... You are actually member number 318... work that out!

Glad you like the site, I hope you manage to meet a few other like-minded people through it. Where are you based? Where do you normally sail, what do you sail etc.?

I also hope the site (especially the Personal Diaries) encourage you to get out on the water more than you would normally.. Thats what its all about.....

Get out there and enjoy yourself, and if theres no wind talk rubbish to everyone else here!!

Al.

SeanBo - 14-8-2003 at 08:24

I'm open to bribes...

Dave - 14-8-2003 at 08:56

Having actually met Robbie, I can confirm that Robbie is very shy.

paul - 14-8-2003 at 09:41

SeanBo - 14-8-2003 at 17:50

There is a huge clue in the forums as to one of Al'a alter-ego's. Try looking in the longest thread on the forum

Congratulations for the progress of your site, I hope it grows more and more!
I m one of those members who visit the site but not post in the forum.

The reasons are that english isnt my langauge, that I m really busy working many hours a day and that I m not really a surfer, so I have no expierence about that. I m just willing to be some day.
I come from Greece and although it is surrounded by see, a problem here is that we do not have winds that help you do this sport.

Have a nice day all of you... and a nice summer!

Dave - 15-8-2003 at 12:27

A-Ha - Well done SeanBo.

I thought I knew Al's alter-ego, well he has to test his changes, (although it's not always obvious that he has), but you found another one I didn't know about.

Nido Yiasoo your English is pretty good, so don't be bashful, and there are many places in Greece with good winds. Vassiliki is one of the top venues, but you can start at a less windy place. So give it a go, you'll never look back.

Although it looks like you are on the wrong side of Greece.

SeanBo - 15-8-2003 at 13:16

I confess I have been pretty sure about that one for a while, but now I understand there is at least one more

Must get the old thinking cap on, although I do already have an idea!

justal - 16-8-2003 at 05:08

Well, at least my false identities have kept you amused for a while.

I have to have three logins, one as Administrator, one as a Moderator and one as a normal member, just so that I can check that everything works fine whenever I change things.

Mind you, it would be nice to have a secret one just so that I can post the odd 'controverisal' message here should the fancy take me... I've been found out now though, so no controversy from me for a while!!!

Dave - 17-8-2003 at 09:51

I don't think Robbie does many posts as Robbie's only interest is chasing Birds and sleeping.

Robbie - 18-8-2003 at 05:57

I'm sure I'm not the only one on here who can claim those activities as there interests.

Dave - 19-8-2003 at 16:51

Unfortunately Robbie, your bird chasing technique just frightens them.
