Hola! I went there for a month earlier this year. In Margarita its best for windsurfing and the beach can be crowded in the afternoons. It blows all the time though! Coche is a boat ride away and much better for kiters, its windy and glassy flat, plus a beautiful beach.
There are much better places though!
We did a sailboat trip down through the islands for 10 days...the water color changes completely! this was definately the highlight of our trip.. the best spots all to ourselves as there are no commercial boats going to these islands..

I love Margarita, (we've been three times) it is one of the best flat water Windsurf locations, with almost constant force 4/5 cross shore winds. Jan-Apr is the windy period.

But there are no longer any direct flights from the UK (Thompson/Club Vass have stopped it this year).

We will probably go again anyway. It is busy but you can always find some space on the water.

Anyone know of good cheap flights???

Re: Weather of Venezuela

Days of at least 6 hours of Sun at
Playa El Agua, Margarita Island during 2010

MONTH Sunny Days / Days in Month % of Sunny Days
January 27 31 87.1%
February 28 28 100.0%
March 31 31 100.0%
April 27 30 90.0%
May 29 31 93.6%
June 28 30 93.3%
July 28 31 90.3%
August 30 31 96.8%
September 29 30 96.7%
October 29 31 93.6%
up to November 5 5 5 100.0%

Venezuela has a tropical climate and there is little change between the seasons, although it is drier from December to April. The northern coast and offlying islands are under the influence of the NE trade winds, which blow strongly between December and April. Summer winds are lighter and Venezuela is very rarely affected by tropical storms.
