Two very important questions

Are wet suit hoods any good? By that i mean do they stop ice cream headaches, and do they stay where they're supposed to? I heard from someone that I regard as a cretin that they are disorintating and always slip round over your eyes? Would appreciate opinions from you good people.

Now possibly the more important of the two questions.... I thought that my happy banana avatar was pretty groovy and ...well... happy! Stu (Thodd) who is apparently my mate, says quite simply that it's gay. I'm not having a pop at anybody that way inclined, but i'm feeling emotionally scarred by the accusation and so I want some views on this! Happy banana.... gay or happy? You decide!

Wetsuits hoods... The one I have is joined to a vest and stays in place perfectly. It did restrict my vision a bit but I just cut a little bit away from the eyes and its now fine... I have a small head as well which is probably why it needed a little trimming. Trouble is, its quie an old piece of neoprene and the vest itself is bright yellow on the outside and bright pink on the inside... Still, it goes under my wetsuit so it doesn't matter.

I get REALLY bad ice-cream headaches when surfing, enough to make me feel as though i'm going to throw up. The wetsuit hood certainly helps, but when its really cold (sub-zero air temps) I still get the headaches a bit, but at least the hood allows me to get out there. Without the hood I think I'd pass out from the pain.

Avatar???... Maybe its time you 'came out' anyway, we don't mind...!

Gay for sure but, hey ho, keep it anyway.

Haven't got a hood but have got a helmet. Keeps you a little warmer and is good for the winter when the winds tend to be stronger anyway.

Does anyone wear a hood under a helemt?

Andy.

I have used a friends hood a few times (er), and definately rate it for keeping warm!

And oh yeah, it is a bit gay, or at best girly....

sorry mate.

Friends gimps and mental men

Well well well! badexcuseforasailor Thank you for that pic and you too Andy W, I nearly fell off my chair with laughter, absolutely sensational stuff, and really made my day! Sorry. However, I'm glad the general consensus is that they are a good thing. So.... i'm going to do it.. i'll join the gimp fraternity and look silly whilst laughing and pointing at Thodd on sunday in his headache world of hurt. He thinks he's hard, i think he's worried about flattening his lovely hair!

As for the inferiority complex, i was refering to jamie not you thodd.

Ok... the important subject. Thankyou all for your many words of support in these dark times. Happy banana is fast becoming happy homo banana isn't it!? I can face the truth!
Still I'm keeping the poor obliviously happy chap as a mark of solidarity.... or till I find one of the village people..... sorry I meant to say a mountain boarder! my god i've been infected!

Camp as a skamp!!!!!
Only Gimps wear hoods, a helmet will shed the water before it actually touches your heads, even duck diving I find it works a treat. Suppose they give you some psychological extra warmth though.

Nice photos.

Any one over the Aberdyfi side this weekend?? Looks good!!!!!!

Shem... Just had a call from Neil and Colin. They are on their way to the Ynyslas side. As is Al I think.

I'm gonna check the surf first to see if its worth going in for a dawny. although the Aberporth bouy is only reading 5.2 ft and a 6 sec period at the mo.... Otherwise it'll be kiting, and maybe windsurfing if the wind picks up later. Winds are forecast to be SSW so it should bb good in the estuary on your side.

Al.
