Windsurfing in Bitez, Turkey

Hi Everyone,

Have any of you been to Bitez in Turkey?

My girlfriend and I are thinking of going on a Neilson Windsurfing Holiday there in June (for a week).

We mainly windsurf on flat water, force 3 - 5 (Brogbrough, Bedford and Poole Harbour).

I'm in the footstraps 60% of the time and my girlfriend is still to master the harness and footstraps.

I have just read this review (http://homepages.primex.co.uk/~odtaa/omwc/bitez.htm) and now don't know if it is a good idea.

Any first-hand experience would be apreciated.

Cheers,

Adrian

I spent some time over there back in summer of 2000.

great for flat water blasting (although there can be a wobble in and out of the bay if you venture on to smaller boards)

Fantastic place and Neilson were a very good outfit. Plenty of mountain biking and partying to be had when the wind doesn't blow.

make sure you sink a few in the sah bar

If you want to see what it looks like, get a copy of the "turn for the better 1+2" technique videos. They're really good and were filmed in Bitez.

cheers

Nick

hi there i worked for sunsail over this summer, uses tha same bay as the neilson resort but further up wind. there are to centers for neilson in bitez on it bitez its self that is a more sheltered bay and a bit of a sail to get wind and anotherthats strate on to the wind this seemed to be the better one but i havent been in the hotels them selves.
generaly its between what you have sailed before but some dayes it proply blows its tits off but it will be safe as you have safty boats. the wind isent that pradictabul that starts of with light wind in the morning then bulding to a cirten strength in the afternoon. but it is generaly stronger in the afternoon but can start strong or be light all day. but if you go im shore you will love it. the water is normaly flat just with chop wind can be quite gusty.
if any mor questions type them in
if youwant i can post some picks so you can see what the sea state is normaly.
let use know what you decide
