Margarita

Just been reading IainO's diary entries.... Sounds as though you had a good time out the Iain and managed to get your 360's dialled as well.... How close did you get to making a vulcan??

It sounds as though Margarita is a cool place to go, who did you book through etc etc...

Al.

Margarita was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone using straps/harness upwards (it was a little to much for my girlfriend as the wind blows all day, not easy for beginners). The added bonus is that it is so cheap, 20p for a bottle of beer.

Booked through Club Vass though Sportif can also oblige. Club Vass is definitely the best deal for kit hire as the insurance for any breakages is part of the contract, other centres charge extra insurance and will even then charge you for kit damage.

I'm getting my Vulcans round fully but I'm falling of due to disorientation and not leaning forward on landing. The fin catches and I come straight out of the straps. Watching the video analysis showed that I was getting a lot closer than I thought, apparently I just need to focus on a point to stop getting disorientated.

Congrats on getting your forwards Al, I did intend to go for them but the opportunity never arose, I think I need some peer pressure to finally take the plunge

Thanks Iain.... Peer pressure certainly helps. I'm often sailing on my own, and there was no way I'd have gone for them on my own. For a start there would have been no one there to fish me out if it all went horribly wrong, and secondly there would have been noone there to see my moment of glory!!

Now waiting for some more SW's to try them again.

Don't think my ankles would stand up to Vulcans though!!

Maybe I should go to for the forward in Dahab ( won't be my kit in danger) and my kits too big

Must admit I was a little concerned about stress on my ankles before I tried a Vulcan, peer pressure overcame that one as the instructor was following me out doing loads of demos. Even the dodgy attempts that I only half committed to only resulted in falling out of the straps in the water, no injuries at all

I did have a minor twinge in my right thigh but that was down to popping the board out of the water. Going for vulcans definitely opens up the new freestyle world, it doesn't seem half as daunting now.
