Oistins Barbados

Johmo,

See you've just been to Oistins. Me and my fiance are getting married there next Easter, combining a wedding with a windsurfing holiday. Any tips on decent restaurants, bars etc. What were Club Mistral like?

Cheers

Iain

I've never sailed at Oistens, only at Silver Sands/ Silver Rock . Its a top spot though, If I remember there's a Mistral center at Maxwell and is used by UKSA and Flying Fish. Oistens is a really cool place, there's a fish market there, and right next door , they cook the fish , you have to try it . Grab a beer from one of the shacks and sit with the locals. Its the place to be on a Fri night. Then head off to "harbour lights" in Bridge Town.

I went to St Lawrence Gap a few years back, the main street is just full of rum taverns, pubs and clubs. Give it a try, its not far from Oistins. Unfortunately there was no wind at the time so I can't really say wheres good and wheres not for windsurfing. Also, try the Pirate Boat from Bridgetown Marina, plenty of free rum and fun. If you fancy something a slightly but tamer try the huge Catermarans that sail from the same marina.

Ahhhhh, I see! Sorry guys.......
However, Barry Island is a great night out if you like rough guys, rougher birds, a bit of a punch up and cheap beer! The drunks on the bench next to whitmore are the only ones who will give Kelvin the time of day when he starts talking about looping and how the conditions weren't right, wrong tides, wrong tack, a bit too tired, worried his PINK towel woudlnt approve, jumping too well!!!!
