Massif outing in feb 1/2 term 13thfeb; hot or COLD?

after talking to Paul Leedham(Mad Eel board maker) in the El Medano, tenerife yesterday evening on skype the call of the SUN was in eveidence.
i was thinking of a trip to the snow, maybe norway for some snowkiting but tenerife will still be lovely and warm and not sure if that might drag me there.
SO DEPENDS ON THE MASSIF; IS THERE ANY INTEREST IN AN OUTING TO EITHER THE SNOW OR THE WARM SEA?

after the last few weeks I've had enough of cold,

so WARM, WARM, WARM! gets my vote

Not a bad spot El Medano.

Be good to catch up with Paul again.

But then he's spent that much time there he'll be DEAD GOOD and makethe rest of us look pedestrian...

here is a link to norway that i got;
http://visithaugesund.org/ /> might be good for some kiting
can't hardly agree with medano being such a good spot for kiting Spooks, dont touch the likes of our local; its asset is the warmth!
def going to the canaries in the oct 1/2 term this year maybe somewhere in fuerto for some better waves.
Paul might not be there come feb if he finds more work.

I've been looking too But don't really think I will be able to pull off a stunt like that at the mo

I've been looking at Morocco, Essaouira is a top location and fairly easy to get to. Fly to Marrakech two hour taxi to coast and accom can be cheap (being a dry country, there are acouple of bars that sell beer). Although wind doesn't kick in consistantly until March, plus can be quite cool with weather systems coming in off the Atlantic. But a fantastic option would be Dakhla right down the south of Morocco, a massive 50km lagoon with big waves on the Atlantic coast minutes away. You have to stay in a tent too. A real adventure, although sadly with the euro as it is bit pricey. But this will be one for my travelling list.

Check it out on google earth.

Kitefish - I was in Essaouira 1st week in Decmeber. My bro is out there at the moment. There was not much breeze when i was there, but my bro had 20 plus throughout Nov. Think March onwards is good.

Theres several beaches one is in the main town and then another beach at Sidi Kouki 30km south. It's a great place to explore and find empty beaches - there are some amazing beaces all down the coast. Check it on Google earth.

Waves at Sidi Kaouki can are HUGE !! It's a tiny village - stayed in a cool hotel - 20eur per night - 500 yds from th beach - but not nightlife or beer !!

Essouira is a proper big town. Little more pricey but plenty of stuff to do in the evenings.

My bro arrived in Dahkla 5 days ago and tells me it's AMAZING - the lagoon is massive and if you want waves then you just drive over the road to the ocean.

The guy who runs the local kite school is keen to let people know about the place. He's got a load of huts to stay in and can pick people up from the airport.

I'm assuming you need to connect thru Cassablanca to get to Dhakla - as its 18 hour bus journey from Marakech !!!

I thought Morrocco was ace - not that cheap though.

I flew to Marrakech and got the bus. It's a 3 hour trip to Essaouira - 6 quid for the bus. Easy to find buss station - beware the taxi drivers tho - they're theviing ba.....rds !!

The other option is to hire a car. The roads are good. The busses are scary - one crashed last week and killed 6 people (one guy from my town !!) . I was a tad concerned a few times during the drive - some close shaves.

My bro had his van, so we could get about easy. If u haven't got a car then I heard you can get reasonabl rates for Taxis to some of the other beaches. But there's plenty of kiting to be had in Ess.

Anyway - give me a shout if you need further info - got loads of info

cheers

Rich

Check this link out for Norway - snowkiting..

http://www.rallarvegen.com/index.php?m=home&lang=en />
This is where we went last year loads of snow, the Hardangervidda plateau is high and flat so no gusty mountain winds. Top conditions.
