Aberystwyth MTB Rides - Week Beginning 11th May

Night Ride
YMBC weekly evening ride is on Wednesday 13th. Shem is going to show us around Pennal woods, so we're going to meet in Pennal (behind the church at 7pm... Should be fun.

Weekend Rides
I'm sure there will be an early morning one and possibly other rides going on too... Check back later.

General Info
There is a group of 10ish transient and 4-5 regular “hardcore” riders who join in on these rides in and around Aber/Mach.
We will ride for 2-2¬? hours depending on the people who join us, at a social pace. Please feel welcome to join us at any time.

Al.

Weekend ride:
Sunday should see a few people coming up from S. Wales for a ride around Nant. I'm supposed to be showing them around a bit and a few other locals will be joining us too.

Anyone else up for it? Probably meet at the visitor centre around 9ish and then head out along the Conti Trail, then cut off the bit out to Nant y Moch and head off along the MBR trail instead, down the first bit of the Bont Goch descent and then down to the mines. Then up towards Angler's retreat, down the MXers Trails, back onto the Nant y Moch road. Up over the top of the moorland on the Conti Trail and down the little rocky descent, then left back through the ford and off towards Hippity Hop.
Then onto the Summit Trail, Mark of Zorro and Leg Burner then back to the visitor centre via Drunken Druid and High as Kite.

We will miss out the bottom of the Bont Goch descent, but get the best of it, and also miss out on the long climb back from the bottom. We also don't get to do White Fridge, but it is a little out of the way. Otherwise we cover all of the Summit, Pendam and Conti Trails (except for the bit along the road by Nant y Moch) and also get the bit out around Angler's Retreat as well.

Anyone else up for it?

Al.

Had a good ride in the end last night. A little damp but a good group of us and we all had fun.

Will be back for more soon.

Sunday's ride is still looking good as well... Although it looks as though I might be missing out on some surf during it!

Looks as though waterproofs will be needed for tomorrows ride.

Here's a Google Earth file of the planned route. (27 miles and 3000 feet of climbing).

Nant yr Arian, MBR Killer Loop and Summit

Surprise surprise, the rain has put a few people off already, despit the fact that it isn't even raining here yet!

It does look as though it'll be a wet one, but I'll be there for 9am and we'll see how it looks. We can always do a shorter route if conditions dictate.

Turned out OK the end. Not a drop of rain whilst we were out riding and we were out for about 4 hours.

Good day in the end.
