i do check every session, being the muscular (ok fat git) that i am, and being pretty hard on kit,it's one thing i have and always will do.

i was trying (and landing) some unhooked down loop raileys, ie railey , fishpole the bar doing a down loop mid railey, change pants ride away, only this time harness snapped on one side sending me onto left side and from about 10ft at 20 mph into two ft of water (yes i know deep water is good etc)

couldn't move had to be assisted by the brillant team from kitepeople at movenpick hotel, pick up truck with me in back on matrress's, hospital x-rays, drips tubes etc etc and £750.00 bill .

harness was about three years old.

any one know where i can get a good deal on one!!!

The El Gouna hospital is pretty top notch, so at least you were in a reasonable place to have the accident.

A guy I was with on a trip 4 years ago had an epileptic fit on the bedroom floor at the Captains Inn, hard tiles are not conducive to thrashing around and he broke his collar bone and a few ribs. He was taken into the hospital at El Gouna. They seemed really excited to have a patient and a lot of the equipment was still shrink wrapped !

Still, a sobering lesson to us all to avoid jumping in shallow water. Or diving from boats .... eh Tony ?

Alas pieproof harnesses aren't what they were....

Really sorry to hear that Col, sounds pretty horrendous especially so far from home, going to hospital in the back of a pick up sounds pretty mad.

And you think that's bad, just got back from 3 weeks in France and didn't have a day over 15knots, best day was today when we got back to the uk and had a sneaky 25knots sesh at hayling island next to the ferry port.

Anyway every cloud has a silver lining - I just mentioned to my better half that 'Colin had a terrible accident on a 3 year old harness and that given mine is 4 years old don't you think it's time I replaced it?
One needs to resort to such measures from time to time!

shem you know those one's they have in the big quarries, it was one of them..

apparantly some one had called greenpeace, who where on there way to push the whale back in the water.

just as PKS has loads of new 2010 toys to play with as well..

ehh Tim but your harness doesn't get any use anyway, so it'll be fine.... in fact david dickinson rang and is intrested in valuing your harness for the antiques roadshow
