Croyde Going Off!
Brace yourselfs people! On the 9th August 2004 Croyde got the sickest waves! Typical how i wasn't there and my friend was.
Just take a look at how great these photos (and waves) are at:
www.extremeboardshots.com
My friend who's just come back from Croyde Bay said that the waves reached a height of 13ft...this can't be right can it? Surely Croyde
is good at 6-8ft...but 13ft, can any one help and say if this is possible? Is my friend actually correct?
He said it was on a day between 6th Aug and 17th Aug. Any help.
I can't get over those waves! Stoked even though i didn't ride them!

That is why the section is titled YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN HERE YESTERDAY - it's what is always said when you miss it. Unless a place is
really good Yesterday's waves will always be the greatest to have hit the spot.
Unless your mate has evidence don't believe him. It might have been good, but mostlikely not the glassy 13foot. Also, who uses 13 feet
to measure a wave - should be 12 or 15.

13ft??? It is possible that your mate is giving the old fishermans tale (The fish was THIS BIG....arms stretched out wide!)
Croyde can certainly handle a wave that big... (i've surfed 10ft faced waved in North wales).... its all a matter of the possibility
that your mate might be embelishing to big himself up... (i know I've done it in the past to annoy mates.. hee heee)

Thanks guys. I know what you mean Thodd.
I guess it could have been "13ft" because if you look at most of those pictures again on the link, the men surfing are probably around
10ft and the waves are slightly bigger then them so its might be true.
But, i think its safe to say that my friend is a bit of an exagerater when it comes to showing off etc.
Thanks anyway.

Which photos are you on about? I've just had a look through the photos in the link and can't find any of BIG waves. Most of them are
only about 3-4 foot, and there are one or two that may be 4-6 foot... I couldn't see any 10ft surfers either...I was expecting to see
the jolly green giant getting barrelled!!
I have seen Croyde in the 12 foot range though...Not a pretty site really, and (surprise surprise) no one went out!!

You know what justal...your right! I keep getting confused with measurements, i don't know why i said 13ft...when an average man is
about 6ft tall
lol, sorry for confusing you...it would have been good to see the jolly green giant surfing though.
I showed the waves on the link to my friend and he said:
"yeah! that's them! 13ft it looks like"
I think i'll have to explain to him what 13ft looks like and say that the waves on the link were 4-6ft.
Cheers for pointing that out Al.
